80 THE LAST & THE NEXT 85 & The Next with a n ey n the nex ea rs! continuing her term M y name is Alexis Grogan, I am 17 years old and from Hackettstown, New Jersey where I attend Hackett- stown High School as a Senior. I have been showing horses since 2012 and showing appaloosas since 2013. I have owned my first Appaloosa for two years, he is a 4 year old Chocolatey named Silver N Chocolate aka Silver. Since I have owned Silver we have grown and accomplished so much together in such a short amount of time. We led the nation in the Youth Most Colorful in 2017 and have received multiple year end finalist, top 5s and top 10s at our two Youth World Shows that we attended together. Recently, we attended our second Youth World Show where we were awarded World Champion in Novice Youth Trail at the 2018 Ap- paloosa Youth World Show. I have been a AYA member since 2013 and this year I was elected to be on the AYA Board of Directors. I look forward to continuing my term for another year with some amazing board members. Since I have become a board member, I have met so many new people from all over the country. I have formed new friendships with so many more youth within the industry that I will be friends with from here on out! I have been able to participate in a ton of fun activities at the world show with the board and other youth and spend time organizing projects to help the growth of our industry. Through the association I have been given the incredible oppor- tunity to show at the European Youth World Show and represent the United States in this coming October. In the next 80 years I would like to see the Appaloosa industry Alexis Grogan looks forward to continue to grow all together. I would love to see our fantastic youth program grow even more than it already has. will eventually become the older generation and help to welcome new youth each year like the older generation has to us. Our youth program and the AYA is a great way to get to know other youth from all over the country and make new friends that will last a lifetime!
